The Firm: A prominent and dynamic management consultancy, commercial finance and accountancy services firm with an impressive roster of blue-chip and high-profile clients.

The Role: Reporting directly to the Board, the remit of this pivotal position is to conceive and deliver strategic marketing and business development initiatives across the NW region. You will have the autonomy - and a localised budget - to put in place business development support programmes, events, communications and lead-generation activities (cross-selling, online promotion, prospect targeting, networking and advertising etc). This is basically a stand-alone role, although there is administrative and executive support. The job-holder will take ownership of the regional BD and marketing plans and thus enjoy a great opportunity to put themselves in the firm's 'shopwindow' for career development/advancement. It requires somebody with strong entrepreneurial ability and the desire to get their 'arms around' the job, bringing their personality and drive to it and thereby building strong working relationships with the firm's senior management.

The Ideal Candidate will be a marketing professional with successful prior experience targeting new business, managing bids and running marketing campaigns. The specific key requirements are:

  • Strong understanding of the business development process, ideally within a leading professional services firm
  • Ideally - but not necessarily - a graduate in marketing, business, economics or management OR the holder of an MBA or CIM Dip etc. The firm may also consider a candidate who qualified in accountancy and/or finance but has switched to a BD or marketing career.
  • A professional, erudite and confident communicator, with strong influencing skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels within the firm
  • Solid and relevant commercial understanding, with an "eye for the bottom line"
  • Experience of managing large projects and multiple relationships.
  • A proactive and self-motivated individual who can manage their own workload with minimal supervision
