Head of Marketing

Financial Services & Banking

Greater Manchester

to £65k + benefits package

The Company:   Our client, established 50 years, is a niche specialist and national-leading independent financial services company, with an industry-wide reputation for expertise, client care and accomplished service.

The Role:   A new role reporting to Board level – and with the ultimate potential of board status – taking responsibility for the marketing strategy and delivery. The key areas of activity will include:

  • Strategy:  To assume the role of marketing ‘guru’, innovator and trailblazer for what has hitherto been – and still is - an extremely successful business built on traditional sales channels, service relationships, networks and partnerships.
  • Communications: Management of all corporate communications, publicity and PR, including collateral for the sales force and affiliate partners.
  • Brand - Assume custodial responsibility for the brand, its development and presentation across multiple channels.
  • Digital Marketing: Responsibility for planning and implementing a major shift over the next 12-18 months from offline marketing to an enhanced online proposition, digital imprint and accompanying lead generation campaigns.
  • Event Management:  Plan and deliver the Company’s annual participation in various high-profile industry events/exhibitions.
  • Budget Management:   Assume ownership of the annual marketing activity budget, above and below the line, making recommendations and adjustments as necessary.
  • Supplier/Agency Liaison:  Be the first point of contact for all marketing and related supplier relationships, including design, website, SEO or digital agencies – briefing in the specific projects and negotiating costs etc.
  • Management Reporting:  Attend and contribute to the regular board meetings, reporting on all KPIs, marketing project developments and campaign analytics etc.
  • Staff Management:   Grow and supervise a small support team, as necessary, as the Company’s marketing activity develops.

The Ideal Candidate:   This is a challenging and high-profile opportunity for an engaging and collaborative marketer who already has a presence on the Manchester (or northwest) business scene.  It is likely that the successful candidate will possess a strong degree from a ‘redbrick’ University and possibly an MBA Masters degree and or CIM Diploma. To be considered you must be able to demonstrate a minimum of four years’ successful experience in a comparable role - ideally with a dynamic SME or mid-size firm and preferably within financial services, business services, banking, insurance or a similar regulatory/compliance-led sector.  Prior senior management or board-influence exposure is critical, ideally (but not necessarily) within a private or owner-managed business, seeing as a ‘cultural understanding’ is crucial to this remit.   There is not presently a big support team so the job holder must be able to switch between strategy, board interaction and the ‘nuts and bolts’ hands-on delivery. You will therefore be a natural multi-tasker – energetic, astute and flexible.

The post carries a competitive salary, benefits package and an outstanding long-term career opportunity.
